This blog post is more a ‘note to self’, but for my work I write a lot of documents and a proper backup of my documents is key for me. The last thing I want to happen is a crash of my hard disk and lose valuable data. So, at home I have a Synology NAS (with 5 disks in RAID-5) and I want to store backups on this device.
To configure File History (which let you create backups) open Control Panel, select System and Security and select File History. File History is disabled by default:

This blog post will explain how to create additional servers and use a load balancer in front of multiple Office Web Apps 2013 servers using SSL Offloading
Microsoft recommends using SSL Offloading when configuring a load balancer in front of an Office Web Apps farm so we need to configure this first.
My original blogpost was about a WebApps server that had a dedicated Internet connection. This is now changed to a WebApps server that is only connected to the internal network. The Internet connections will enter the load balancer and the WebApps server is configured as a real server in the load balancer’s VIP.

For my lab environment I have to reinstall environment on a regular basis, which of course is quite a lot of work. Of course I know the unattended setup options in Exchange, but you also have to setup your VM’s, DCPromo the VM’s and install all kinds of prerequisite software.
Installing Lync is even worse with the Topology Builder, creating the XML and then install the various server roles.

An additional application next to Exchange Server 2013 is a new server product called Office Web Apps 2013. The Office Web Apps server can be used to render Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint file types. Other than this the Office Web Apps server is used by Exchange Server 2013 to provide the Web Ready Document Viewing, something that was made available by Exchange Server 2010 natively (although a non-Microsoft engine was used to achieve this).
Installing Office Web Apps 2013
Office Web Apps 2013 can be installed on Windows Server 2012 or on Windows Server 2008 R2, but I prefer the first (due to support lifecycle). If you plan to use the latter make sure that you install the .NET Framework 4.5 and Powershell 3.0, these are installed by default on Windows Server 2012.
